Subject: Believe Your Dream
Mark 11:23 - "For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith."
Many remember Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. for his "I Have A Dream" speech. It is played over and over at this time of year as we commemorate his legacy. While most of us stand in awe of the vision that he had, we are in a similar position in life as believers. We have an opportunity daily to look out on a world riddled with injustice, poverty, hatred and pain, and make a difference. If we possessed just one quality, we would do just that. The quality is the ability to believe our dreams.
Have you ever had a dream at night and woke up the next morning with a great feeling from the dream? Some people write it off and say, "that was just a dream." However, some people grasp that dream and try to make it a reality. That's what Dr. King did. He saw his dream as the object of his belief.
If you're dreaming of a world where God is in control and peace, love and kindness reigns, well that's heaven, but as you dream of those things, your actions can provide that right here on earth too, because God can be in control in your life. And when God's in control of your actions and when he becomes the object of your belief, then, like Dr. King, you too will not only have a dream, but you will believe that it can be accomplished.
