Subject:  Experience Makes The Difference

Romans 5:3 - King James Version
And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope:

With the chance that school would be cancelled today, I struck out early this morning to check the roadways for treacherous conditions.  After waiting for about 10 minutes for the ice to melt off of the windshield, I pulled out of the driveway slowly as I checked for ice along the path that I would take to get to school.  After driving for about 15 minutes, I turned around and headed back to the house.  On the way back, I passed a few cars driving as tentatively as I had on my initial trek out.  This time I was much more confident in the road conditions and my ability to navigate them, so I passed up a few of these timid drivers.

The difference between those who seem to be bold in Christ and those who step out timidly is often due to experience.  If you've ever had to navigate treacherous conditions with God, then you know that it's safe driving and that you will make it back home okay.  If you're still wondering about whether you'll slip on the ice of debt and crash into bankruptcy or if the bad weather conditions of relationships will leave you stranded on the road of loneliness, you'll probably be timid as you drive this road of life.  But those who have been there before have the benefit of experience and while they know that it's dangerous, they've got coverage better than AAA.

That's what makes us travel the road with boldness.  Today you need to take it easy on the highways.  To be sure, drive it first, the experience makes the difference.
