Subject: What About The Data?
1 Cor 15:51 - 52 "Behold, I shew you a mystery, we shall not all sleep but we shall be changed. In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump; for the trumpet shall sound. The dead shall be raised incorruptible and we shall be changed."
There's nothing quite like starting fresh. However, starting
fresh is not always a preferred method we have of doing things. Especially
when it is something like a crashed hard drive which is what happened to me
this weekend. If you've ever had it happen, then you know that it is nothing
short of miraculous that I have this devotional loaded and ready to go on
a Monday morning from the same computer that was rendered fully dead on Saturday
afternoon. On that day, I simply assessed the loss of pictures, music files,
important documents, bible studies I had prepared, and even some work on
a book that I plan on writing one day. In a twinkling of an eye, it was
all gone because the hard drive simply quit working.
Actually, I've got the hard drive going to a Marine friend
because he says that the data inside the drive is still good and that he will
be able to extract it. At least that's what he thinks and you know Marines,
they believe they can do anything. If I had properly prepared for
the end of my hard drive, I would still have the same data working in another
drive. Anyway, as I analyzed this, I realized that it's quite like
our movement from our current existence to our eternal existence.
One day our hearts will beat their last beat. The container
of our "hard drive" will go caput and work no longer. However, the data inside
(spirit) will live on. In fact, we too will take on new containers. It
will be an incorruptible container. Have you prepared for the end of your
"hard drive?" Well the container isn't nearly as important as the data, but
when the container is ready to be trashed, you'd better hope the data doesn't
go along with it.
