Subject: Developing Faith Muscles
2 Corinthians 5:7 "For we walk by faith, not by sight."
As expressed in a series of Nationwide Insurance commercials, "life comes at you fast." Because it does, there will be times when the latest news we receive may seem too incredible for us to bear. It is at those times that our faith is tested. Like any other test, our passing or failing the test will all depend on our training and preparation. So how do we train for a faith test? We work on it daily.
The bad news about the worldwide economic slowdown has hit many and there will be many looking for hope and a solution in this crisis. The solution is your faith. However, if you waited on the crisis to hit before you started to exercise your faith, you are going to realize that perhaps you're not in as much an economic crisis as you are a faith crisis.
See you wouldn't wait until the day of a weightlifting competition to lift your first weight. No, you would undergo rigorous training so that you could be best prepared for the challenges of heavy lifting. So it is with our faith. The scriptures implore us to "walk" by faith. Walking is something that you do daily and frequently. As you do it, you develop the muscles necessary to walk. The daily walk in faith prepares us to use our "faith muscles," which get developed from their daily use.
Today do some heavy "faith lifting" and just trust God. It will prepare you for upcoming faith challenges and you'll be amazed at the "faith muscle" that develops.
