Subject: Ashamed Of Sin
Psalms 51:3 - "For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me."
I watched a new television show last evening with my daughters. The show was called, "The Moment Of Truth." On the show you can win up to $500,000. All you have to do is tell the truth as the host ask tougher and tougher questions. Questions like, "have you ever sent flirtatious text messages to anyone other than your girlfriend since you started dating her?" Or a question like the one they asked a young beauty pageant contestant, "have you ever sabotaged a fellow competitor in a beauty pageant?" If you continue to answer the questions truthfully, as decided by a lie detector machine to which they have you hooked up, then you continue to march towards the $500,000 prize. There was a former Marine on the show and they asked him a question that was quite easy to answer. The question was, "have you ever done anything in the Marine Corps that you were ashamed of?" I thought, "how easy. Of course." To me that question was asking, "have you ever sinned?" Who could answer no to that? I guess no one could, but I think that some people acknowledge their sin, but are not ashamed of it.
I think the real moment of truth is when we actually become ashamed of our sin. When we do, we fall on our face before a holy God and realize that this is what He desires, people who see holiness as the life for a man or woman of God.
Today, are you ashamed of your sin? Any of it? All of it?
