Subject: To Be Free
Psalm 119:32 - "I run in the path of your commands for you have set my heart free."
John 8:32 - "Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. "
Romans 6:18 - "You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness."
One of the first things people mention when I talk to them about my belief in the truth of God's word, is the loss of freedom. They say things like
"There are so many rules"...."I wouldn't be free to do the things I want to do" etc. And to be honest, there have been many times where I didn't have
much of a response for them. I know inside that there is no real freedom in the things that God has said are not beneficial for us, but it is a
difficult thing to explain to someone who has yet to believe. Then it came to me a few weeks ago. I was battling with the thou shalt nots of the
Bible and God zeroed in on something I had never really thought about before. God says so many times in His word that we are free, and I just
took for granted that the freedom He is referring to is from eternal death. But it's so much more than that. I am free every day, everywhere that I
am. I am free to love the person that treats me badly. I'm free to accept people as they are. I'm free to not be jealous of what someone else has or
is. I have the freedom to choose the high road in every circumstance. What a truly wonderous gift He has given us...lets truly be slaves to
righteousness today.
As the journey continues...
