Subject: Selfish Parents
Titus 2:3-5 "The aged women likewise, that they be in behavior as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed."
The scriptural passage makes it pretty clear what the young women are to be taught to do by the "aged" women. The one word repeated most often in this passage is "husbands."
An "ethical" (ethical is a word used by the world when they don't have God's word as the standard) debate has arisen over the mom who recently gave birth to octuplets in California. The single mom already had six children and now she adds eight to that number. In all of the media coverage, it was finally discovered, that there is no husband. In a recent interview, the mom of 14 children expressed that she has always longed for a "huge" family. Newsflash to this lady, "You Don't Have A Family." What you have is a mother with issues so severe, she thinks that she can solve them by having a multitude of children around to distract her from herself. This is the epitome of selfishness.
Having gone through the pain of divorce with children, I clearly understand the requirements for children to have two parents to love and care for them. I know that circumstances in life can prevent this from happening, but children with a mother and a father is not only what God desires and designed, but it is the best thing for the children. It is sad to see today that so many parents think only about what they want that they forget about the children they are having.
Today both men and women need to realize that the best thing they can do for their children is to love their spouse first. This is God's order and when His order is right, everyone wins.
