Subject: The "Jesus Saves" Commercial
Acts 22:4 - "And I persecuted this way unto the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women."
I didn't see all of the Super Bowl yesterday, but I did watch a few of the commercials online. It's strange how the commercials seem to have almost taken over as the feature attraction to the Super Bowl. I'm sure that many people watch the big game only for that reason. Commercials during regular programming aren't usually that attractive or are they?
I don't think we realize how subliminal the messages in commercials are and how they stick with us long after the commercials have aired. That's what commercials are designed to do. While we are watching the "feature" attraction, they come along to take our minds into a totally different direction. In today's commercials the actual product being advertised may be forgotten, but the visual of the commercial will linger in our minds for some time. Really good commercials can mean success in a number of ways. The Geico "Caveman" commercials recently spawned an actual television series.
God ran a really good commercial on Paul. Read the entire chapter from the verse above and you'll see that because of his hate for Christians, he spent much time persecuting the church, but while that was happening, the "Jesus Saves" commercial was airing.
This is the same thing that happened to you and me. While the "feature attraction" of our lives was airing, He interjected a subliminal message about sin and its lethal effects and it ran in the background for some time, but we couldn't shake the message. His "Jesus Saves" commercial worked and we bought it. Now we endorse the product and star in commercials for Him.
