Subject: Judgment Day
Ecclesiastes 3:17 "I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work."
Yesterday I attended an Uncle's funeral. It was sad to watch as people tried to make remarks that made him out to be a "man of God," when he didn't seem to live like one. There were no testimonies about how He came to Jesus, though one man hinted that maybe he did and there wasn't a death-bed confession though he knew in the last few days that this was probably "it" for him.
The whole thing gave me pause to think more about my life and the day when I meet Him. I don't want the sum total of my life to be similar to my uncle's. One lady's remarks were on behalf of the "domino players." We even saw one of his grand-children stick a box of dominoes and a package of cigarettes in the casket with him. How sad is that?
People, judgment is real and it should motivate us to tell everyone about it. To my uncle's credit, everyone talked about how he was the hardest worker they had ever seen and though he worked until his death at 86 years old, that just doesn't make up for accepting Jesus' death on the cross.
Today it's good to know that you can't work your way in to heaven, because Jesus Christ has already done the work. If we simply accept the work that He has done on our behalf, then we can sit down and play dominoes all day, but why would you do that when the rest of the world is on their way to "Judgment Day?"
