Subject:  If We Only Knew

Proverbs 25:2 - "It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter."

My best friend from college was over the house this weekend and we had the biggest "discussion" ever about something that happened about 25 years ago.  We went back and forth for quite awhile and began to argue at length the merit of our viewpoints.  While discussing, she let me know that she had no idea that I had played the role that I had in the matter at hand.  I then began to jokingly say, "so no wonder we've been such good friends all of these years, you didn't know."

Of course we are still good friends, but I thought about how sometimes our lives are changed for the better because God hides things from us.  See God knows all and everything about us and still loves us, but He knows that many of us would give up our "love" for our friends/neighbors if we knew what He knows about us.

I'm grateful that God chooses to hide things at times, because He knows there are just some things that I couldn't handle properly.  Besides, like the kings whose honor is to search out a matter, I'd stress myself out if I knew just a little bit and thought I could figure it all out.

Today praise God for what you do know, but also for what He has kept back.  If we knew too much it would probably mess us up.
