Subject:  Get Over It Now

Romans 13:1-3 "Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same"

Before the first vote is cast in the general election for the presidency of the United States, before the results are tabulated and before the winner of the November election is announced, I say to all people without regard to political affiliation or vote choice, "GET OVER IT!"

I don't know why this happens every presidential election cycle, but people get way too caught up in this thing.  I think we listen too much to what these men or women are saying and we stop hearing what God is saying.  I heard a presidential candidate's wife saying the other day that we have broken souls that must be fixed.  Was she saying that her husband is some kind of savior?  I think some people actually hear this talk and start believing it and then they have a hard time when they are eventually let down by either the candidate, when they find out that he or she is a fallible, fallen human or they feel let down by the American people when the American people choose a candidate other than their savior.

The bottom line to all of this is that regardless of who wins the election, as believers, our job is the same, to proclaim the gospel message.  Now you can talk about souls and while we can't fix or heal them, we know someone who can.

Today lets get wrapped up in campaigning for Jesus Christ.  Are we donating as much time and effort to Him as we are to the choice for our nation's highest office?  The time we spend working for His campaign will never be wasted.  Based on the scripture above, regardless of whether we have a Republican, Democrat or some other party in the White House, Jesus Christ always wins the election and that makes it much easier for us to "get over" that small matter of who the president actually is.
