Subject:  Skate For The Gold

Luke 13:3 - "I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish."

I've been watching a lot of the ice skating this week in the Winter Olympics being held in Torino, Italy.  I'm still amazed at some of the feats that I'm seeing performed, but one thing that I've noticed is the difference between those who recover quite well from a fall and those who seemingly never get over their falls and continue to make more mistakes.  That's a pretty good lesson for life.

One skater on last night never got over it.  After she fell midway through the routine, she expressed doubt and fear on her face for the remainder of the performance  to the extent that as she geared up for another jump, my daughter said out loud, "I wouldn't try that if I were you."  The skater jumped up and went sprawling on the ice.  We laughed because my daughter had seen it and was so accurate.  That skater didn't recover well from the first fall and it continued to go downhill.

David was a skater who had the ability to recover well.  The key to recovering well in his case, like ours, was his great ability to repent.  David fell but got back up and went on with his "perfomance."  If we are to skate well in this life, we are going to have to be able to recover from our fall, get back up and continue the routine without doubt and fear about the next jump.  If we do not repent, you can bet that the falls will continue and you will get much more than just a low score by the judges.  So today let His grace flow and skate your way to a life of gold medals.
