Subject:  How The World Apologizes

Acts 16:16 - "And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:"

Acts 16:19 - 20 "And when her masters saw that the hope of their gains was gone, they caught Paul and Silas, and drew them into the marketplace unto the rulers, and brought them to the magistrates, saying, These men, being Jews, do exceedingly trouble our city,"

As everyone begins to feel sorry and sad for the recent escapades of pop star Britney Spears, it's interesting to me to note who is apologizing.  As some of you may have read or seen on the news, the other day she walked into a hair salon and asked that they shave her head bald.  When they refused, she took the clippers and did it herself.  That's all coupled with her third divorce taking place and a lot of recent press about suspected drug use and binge drinking.  So even some of the late-night stand up comedians have vowed not to make any more jokes about her condition because they see her as "vulnerable."  That sounds like it's a long way from getting her some much needed help.  Well I guess that's the way things happen in "that" world.

Most of these people felt better yesterday because she checked herself into a rehab facility.  And of course it was interesting while everyone was thankful for that, the hair salon was setting up a website to buy the hair that Britney cut off for a million dollars.  That's the world for you.

Whether it's Anna Nicole or Britney Spears, both are clear cases of how the world can use you and abuse you and the apology that is offered, consists only of feeling sorry, but the actions continue.   That is because like the passage above, it messes up the world's "gains."  It "troubles their city."

Understand today that the world wants to use you and the apology is not real.  Don't fall for it.  When they offer sorrow, understand that that's just how the world apologizes.  They're really concerned about themselves.
