Subject: Keep Thumpin That Bible
John 1:5 - "And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not."
Yesterday we were in the middle of a hot discussion in our office, which
is quite customary. As we were debating the issue, the sarcastic personal
attacks began. Only from their side of course. I work in an office of 4
and the other three, well lets say, they don't believe what I believe about
the truth of God. Anyway, right as we were discussing the issue, one of
my friends said, well Carlen that's what you and your bible thumpers believe.
Of course I let it go unnoticed because I didn't feel a slight about it
at all. As a matter of fact, to me it was more like a compliment. I had
prayed only the day before that I not lose my purpose and focus within the
office because my goal is to see them all come to Christ. To me this was
a great way to acknowledge that I was "on point."
The verse above in the John passage talks about how Christ came and was a
light shining in darkness. This is the light that now resides within us
as we are in Him. If that happens, the light makes those things in the
dark quite evident or more clearly seen. Therefore, as those who preferred
darkness rejected Christ, so too will we be rejected. However this is what
we are to be in a dark world.
Keep thumpin that bible and if you aren't thumpin it, you need to start.
Thumpin should consist of daily time meditating on God's word and what He
has said. If you do that, it won't matter what people call you because what
matters is what He calls you.
