Subject: Christian Horses
Psalms 23:2-3 "He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. "
The Thoroughbred horses we have are pretty big and especially so for my daughters. However, I had to teach them the simple principle that it's not by power nor by might, but by the leading. In this case, the ability to lead a horse. My oldest daughter was trying to steady her horse in the barn while I was cleaning the stalls a few days ago. She continually placed her hand against the horses as she tried to get the large animal to move one way or the other. Seeing this, I exclaimed to her, "Caylah, that's why its called a lead rope." Finally I went out and showed her how I could get the horse to follow me with a slight tug on the rope and without applying any other pressure on the horse or the lead rope. The horse knew that I was leading simply because the rope was attached.
God's lead rope is the Holy Spirit. When He comes along, He leads us just as the perfect horse trainer would lead a horse. Many of us Christian horses fight against the leading of Holy Spirit, but when we finally submit, we realize that the pastures are greener and horses will reach their necks through the fence for the greener pastures; the waters are cool and still and the horses are thereby refreshed and the paths of righteousness are really nice riding trails.
Christian horses need to be led. Today, if you are a believer, follow your "lead rope." He's taking you to a great place.
