Subject: The Coin, The Colt And The Pitcher

Matthew 17:27 - "Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee."

Luke 19:30 - "Saying, Go ye into the village over against you; in the which at your entering ye shall find a colt tied, whereon yet never man sat: loose him, and bring him hither."

Mark 14:13 - "And he sendeth forth two of his disciples, and saith unto them, Go ye into the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him."

In case you've ever questioned God's ability to know all things, consider
these passages which I believe display His genuine omniscience and omnipotence.
If you read the background and the end of all three passages, you will find
that God took these small things to display something far greater.  In the
first passage, think about how could anyone know of all of the millions of
fish in a body of water that the first one to come up would have a coin in
it's mouth.  Not only that, how did He even know that if they cast in the
hook, that they would catch the fish.  We could say omniscience that He could
know that but we could just as easily say omnipotence that He was able to
make it happen.

Then in the second passage, he directed His disciples to go and find a colt that no man ever sat on.  How could He know that?  The other issue is, how He would know that simply saying, "the Lord has need of him" would be enough for the owner to simply let the colt go.  I don't think I would unless I was under the control of something greater.  Once again, His omnipotence and ability to control comes into play.

Then in the final example He tells His disciples that they will find a man bearing a pitcher of water.  Okay so they're looking for a room.  What has the pitcher of water got to do with anything?  It differentiates this man from the other men in the city.  Lots of people walking around but they were to follow the one with the pitcher of water.  I'm sure Christ could have just as easily said, the guy with the Nike tennis shoes on or the Polo shirt. Whatever the case, without being there, He knew exactly what would be going on and that the man would have the room available.

So what's the point?  If God knows the smallest of details such as this, what makes us think that He doesn't see us in our sorrow.  What makes me think that he can't ensure that I have everything that I need.  Therefore, give up the worry and know the God who can see a coin in a fishes mouth is the same God who can see and heal the cancer in your body and so much more.
