Subject: Selling Out
Luke 4:6-7 - "And the devil said unto him, All this power
will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and
to whomsoever I will I give it. If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall
be thine."
FOX TV's biggest non-sporting show ever was the finale of Joe Millionaire.
Amazingly, without ever watching a single episode, I was able to get more
information on it than I ever cared about. I'm sure that most of you know
the storyline by now. The show was initially advertised as the 50 million
dollar lie. They duped a few unsuspecting women into believing that they
were vying for the affections of a multimillionaire. So millions of people
watched this show to see how it would play out. It appears that America
was quite interested in not only who he would pick, but how the person he
picked would react to the lie that had been told to them.
Satan, as the Father of Lies has so commercialized his schemes, that we see
them as simple entertainment. He continues to offer the same proposition
today that He offered to Christ in the desert. If we look closely, we will
see what Paul was talking about in Romans when he said that
"Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are
worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do
them."
Ole Joe or whatever his name was, was quite willing to participate in
this lie because there was much to gain for him. There was the celebrity
status, the TV popularity, the women, not to mention the money he
would receive on the TV show itself and from future endorsements. Just think,
all of that for one "little lie."
Today whatever you do, don't sell out. Satan comes to us in many ways to
get us to worship him. It ain't worth a cent and it ain't worth $50 million.
Just say no!
