Subject:  Not Just A Fan

Psalms 66:4 - "All the earth shall worship thee, and shall sing unto thee; they shall sing to thy name. Selah."

So how do we prepare for God and more specifically to worship Him?    Lets think about it this way.  Last week was the Super Bowl.  Think about the Indianapolis  or Chicago fans and all they went through the two weeks before the big game.  The real die-hard fans knew every player on the team and they probably knew most of the plays.  If they didn't attend the game, they had gatherings in tribute to their teams with all of the fixins and people came ready for the big game.  They were surely on one accord.

Now lets say you're a "Jesus Fan" and imagine your preparation for Sunday worship.  All week you're getting ready for the "big game."  You've got fellow fans coming together and you've been praying for a victory for your team.  You're all hyped and ready to see what happens on Sunday.  But that's not all because you're not just a fan, you're a player in the game.  You've got a playbook (bible) and it has not only the plays of the offense and defense, but of the opposing team (satan, flesh) as well.  To prepare you've been studying the playbook all week and you've practiced the plays in the book.  Sometimes they didn't go perfectly in practice, but you knew that was part of the preparation for Sunday's game.  On the way to the stadium (church) you've got your music on and you're listening to a song that reminds us of our defense (a mighty fortress is our God).  Then we think about some of the great players on our team who've gone before us.  Moses who played quarterback and led "his team" to the big game.      Paul who was acquired as a free agent from our opposing team and became a great running back with more yards in missions than anyone.  Yes but this time it's on us.  The big game is here and it's time to proclaim the victory.

You've studied, prayed for victory and your teammates are there with you.  It's game day baby and you're not just a fan, you're a player!  You're ready for worship!!!
