Subject: The Fear To Faith Cycle: Our First Reaction
Job 1:20 - "Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped."
You get the bad news and you are overwhelmed. "How can I handle this and what should I do? This seems so impossible to deal with. Lord, Lord please help me. I need you now."
This is what I call the fear to faith (F2F) cycle. It happens to all of God's people. Situations or circumstances hit us out of nowhere at times and we wonder how in the world we're going to deal with it. It could be the death of a loved one or news that your marriage is ending. It could be the loss of your job and you wonder how you're going to provide for your family. Maybe it's news that your teenage daughter is pregnant. There are a million other circumstances that can come about any day that force us into the fear to faith cycle.
Job was plunged into the fear to faith cycle and took the actions identified in the verse above. This is a great example for all of God's people when the F2F cycle hits, that is to immediately begin to worship God.
Today remember that the fear to faith cycle ultimately brings us to a deeper trust and reliance on God and that was always His goal in the first place. When we begin the cycle however, our first reaction should be to worship Him.
