Subject:  The Ugly Parts Have Purpose

1 Corinthians 12:23-24 "And the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, while our presentable parts need no special treatment.  But God has combined the members of the body and has given greater honor to the parts that lacked it."

A couple of weeks ago I was enlightened further into the reality that God has given purpose to all of the parts of the body regardless of what we think of them.  Here's how.

One of the effects of aging is that you start to lose your hair in places that you want it and you start to grow hair in places that you don't.  So I noticed that my nostrils had this unsightly hair happening and it seemed to be too long.  Well more than a year ago, my wife bought me a little hygiene kit complete with one of those electric nose hair trimmers.  I had never really used it so I thought I'd give it a try.  It worked quite well and I realized that I could cut most all of the hairs in each nostril.  It was only a couple of days before I noticed that I had begun sneezing more often and immediately related the hair-trimming with the sneezing episodes.  Yes those ugly nose hairs had been doing their job of catching dust and other particles, preventing them from getting into my body's respiratory system.  God is amazing.

The point is that it's like that in life.  Sometimes we think people are things are ugly and undesirable, but God has created everything with purpose and ultimately for His purpose.

Today think about some people you might refer to as ugly or some parts of your life that you think of as less than desirable.  God has given us these things to fulfill His purpose.  If we would begin to understand that even the ugly parts (people and circumstances) have purpose, then we would begin to live and love life the way God intended.
