Subject: These Are The Good Ole Days
Ecclesiastes 7:10 - "Say not thou, What is the cause that the former days were better than these? for thou dost not enquire wisely concerning this."
You might be surprised to know that the National Crime rate is down, gas is at it's lowest price in about five years and the health of Americans has increased so dramatically that it is forecasted that whereas we now have 12% of the population at 65 or older, in 20 years that percentage will go to 20% or 71 million people. Of course we can always find something to complain about, but this is the way it has always been.
The scripture written a long time ago was asking people why they always looked back at the good old days and went on to say, you're not enquiring wisely when you ask this question. The reality is that while many things are always wrong in a society and in the world, there are many other positive things happening.
The key is that we may be looking for "good ole days" in the wrong places. If I had a job and then become unemployed, "the good ole days" may be when I had a job and could afford things. If there was a law that allowed prayer in schools and then the law reverses that, I will probably refer to the time when there was prayer in schools as "the good ole days."
Today if you are a believer in Christ, then these are "the good ole days," because this is the day that He has given you to be His agent of change in the world. If you seize that opportunity today, you will begin to see that not only was today a "good ole day," but you will anxiously await tomorrow, because as the Christian singer Israel puts it, "every day with you Lord, is sweeter than the day before."
