Subject:  The Incredibles

Acts 26:8 - "Why should it be thought a thing incredible with you, that God should raise the dead?"

So what if you had a father with super-human strength and a mother who could stretch and bend for as far as she wanted?  And what if you had a brother who could run faster than the speed of light or a sister who could disappear right in front of your face?  That would truly be "incredible."  That is in fact the family in the movie entitled, "The Incredibles."

The plot is interesting in that it sets a certain segment of the society out as being "strange."   This segment all have supernatural gifts.  The society initially likes the fact that the supernatural gifts are used for good, but eventually the issue of political correctness enters in and the supernaturally gifted people are told that they could be jailed for using their gifts in public.  Uhmm does that sound familiar?

Ladies and gentlemen, we are "The Incredibles."  We have a Father who has given us supernatural gifts and powers to use for His good.  We are still amazed at His power to raise the dead and perform other miracles on our behalf.  The society shuns us as strange because of this, but just like the movie, one day they will realize that we (Christians) are a force for good in the world.

In the movie, the daughter identifies the infant in the family as being the only one that is "normal" because she cannot see any gift manifesting in his life.  In our "Incredible" family, we all have gifts and we should not see others as less valuable because they don't have our particular gift.  In our family, it takes all of the gifts and that's what makes us "The Incredibles."
