Subject: Investigate The Noise
Hebrews 12:1 - "..., let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us..."
Yesterday as we were returning home from a trip to Dallas, I felt a slight rumble underneath my seat. I drove a little longer and the rumble got a bit more noticeable as I mentioned it to my wife, she then noticed and felt it too. I traveled to the next exit and stopped at the gas station. There I noticed that my spare tire, which is stored underneath the vehicle, was coming undone and had been bouncing off of the roadway and knocking against the underside of the vehicle. That was the noise that we heard. I thought about the damage that could've happened to our vehicle if that had gone on longer. My wife thought about the potential damage to others traveling the roadway had it completely dislodged. In any case, we were thankful that God let us find the problem and resolve it before any of this happened.
Often these things happen in our spiritual lives as well and we fail to "investigate the noise." The noise is often God's signal to us that there is a problem that needs to be fixed. Sometimes we simply ignore the rumble and sometimes hearing the rumble, we then decide that we'll keep on driving with the problem. A problem with greed or lust goes unchecked until it dislodges itself and causes problems for not only "your vehicle," but others traveling life's roadway with you (family and friends).
Today investigate that noise in your life. It could cause a whole lot of damage and besides we've all got enough luggage to carry without having any extra impediments on the road trip of life.
