Subject: The Appeal
Psalms 149:9 - "To execute upon them the judgment written: this honour have all his saints. Praise ye the LORD."
It's interesting to watch the politics of a new democracy taking place in Iraq. They've not yet formed all of the bureaucratic nonsense that aged democracies, such as ours, create. So the appeals court ratified the decision to hang Saddam and while they were doing that, they not only also upheld the death verdicts of two other officials indicted with Saddam, but they also took Saddam's former vice-president's life sentence and changed it to death. I doubt if that's ever happened here.
Many of the Iraqi people are rejoicing that Saddam will put to death. With his appeal ratified, the execution must take place within 30 days. That's what you call swift justice.
It's a good thing that God's High Court didn't uphold our decision. See as it says in 2 Corinthians 1:9, "...we had the sentence of death in ourselves, " but during the appeal, God said, "set them free. My Son is guilty and will be put to death for the crimes." So the honor of the saints is that the judgment has been executed and when we go marching in, we go in guiltless and rejoicing.
