Subject:  Here It's Christmas

Luke 2:11 - "For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord."

Factional fighting wages in Somalia as Islamic extremists try to take hold of yet another region of the world.  Meanwhile Darfur's ethnic conflict continues unabated and the world watches another humanitarian crisis evolve.  In our own country the latest news talk has been all about whether to dethrone or not to dethrone beauty queens as they expose their moral inadequacies.  If that's not enough there are about 30+ college football games to watch and the NFL playoffs should be underway soon.  Welcome to "the world."  With all of this "clutter" in our lives, is it any wonder that many would simply use this holiday as a pleasant distraction from every day life?  Perhaps that's a start, but it's so much more than that.

Christmas isn't just a time for everyone to be in the "spirit."  It's a time for us individually to make Christ the center of our lives.  When that happens, we find that Christmas is a personal holiday.  A day like no other.  A day when we should all realize that because of the birth of The Savior, the cares of this world are merely background noise to Christ at center stage.  Today I can forget what is going on and what the rest of the world is doing, in my heart it's Christmas.
