Subject: Who Needs A Savior?
Isaiah 19:20 - "And it shall be for a sign and for a witness unto the LORD of hosts in the land of Egypt: for they shall cry unto the LORD because of the oppressors, and he shall send them a savior, and a great one, and he shall deliver them."
When one gets to the end of the rope, one realizes that they need help. They need rescuing. They need someone to give them a way out. They need hope. That's the work of a savior. We defined that yesterday. Those definitions apply generically to anyone who needs a savior, but the key to who really needs The Savior is covered in the passage that we're using this week out of Isaiah. The children of Israel "cried unto the Lord because of the oppressors," and God sent them a savior.
As believers, we are oppressed by Satan, our flesh and the world. All of these forces are designed to keep us from being what God wants us to be. Often these forces trap us and keep us in habits and lifestyles that are contrary to our positions as God's beloved children. But we have a Savior, a great One, who has delivered us from that oppression.
Today God is looking to do the same for you. The key is for you to realize that you need saving. If everything was okay, God would not have needed to send His Son as a Savior. However, God heard our cries because of the oppressors and He sent us The Savior, a truly, truly great One.
