Subject: What You Talkin' Bout Willis?
Acts 4:20 - "For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard."
The title is an old refrain from "Different Stokes." You remember the show with Gary Coleman. It's quite that way with us sometimes. Ever had the problem that someone just couldn't seem to comprehend what you were saying. Perhaps it's the frame of reference from which you are speaking.
That was the case of Peter and John when they went before the council. The council had commanded them to speak no more in the name of Jesus. They thought it was that simple. We command them not to speak and they will not speak. However, with all respect given to authority, the buck stops when we speak of the things of Christ. As Peter and John said, "should we listen more to you than to God? No way."
today, the world is trying to shut us up because they really don't understand what we're talking about. We will be persecuted, lied on and about and mistreated if we speak those things which we have seen and heard. However, still, "we cannot but speak" of them.
Let the world know what you're talking about Willis!
