Subject: How Long Does It Take?
Psalms 130:5 - "I wait for the LORD, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope."
My 7 year-old was following me around the house a few weeks ago and complaining that her leg was hurting. I asked what she had done and she didn't know, but she kept saying that her leg was hurting. After I checked and realized that it could've been something small like, her leg going to sleep, I dismissed her complaints and finally I said, "well Caisa, did you pray about it?" She immediately replied, "I did pray about it, but when I pray it usually takes about a week." I laughed and said, "well maybe it'll be faster this time."
This is the way we are sometimes with God. We pray about things and we think that we can't wait so we try to see if there is something else that we can do.
Last week, my wife was telling me that Caisa was explaining how she prayed about something and it happened after she prayed about it. My wife, to whom I had told about her previous story, told her "...and it didn't even take a week."
We don't always know how long it's going to take for God to answer prayer, but we know that He always, and I repeat, always does. The issue for us today is, do we have the patience to wait for His answer? Wait on the Lord!
