Subject: The Definition Of Fool
Psalms 53:1 - "The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good."
Earlier this month a sign was posted in the Washington Capitol by the Freedom From Religion Foundation. It was placed next to a nativity scene and it read, "At this season of the Winter Solstice, may reason prevail. There are no gods, no devils, no angels, no heaven or hell. There is only our natural world. Religion is but myth and superstition that hardens hearts and enslaves minds."
Well that's their view. Of course our God talks about their view and He calls people with that view "fools." As believers we don't have to spend a lot of time decrying how mad we are that they do such things as posting a sign displaying their foolishness. That's what fools do. One response from a church countered, I think appropriately, with this, "There is one God. There is one Devil. There are angels, a heaven and hell. There is more than our natural world. Atheism is but myth and superstition that hardens hearts and enslaves minds."
As has always been the case since time began, many are lost and have done "abominable iniquity." That would be telling your Creator that He didn't create you.
Today pray for the fools and then also pray for those of us who sometimes act foolish as though He doesn't exist, because to say there is no God definitely makes you a fool, but to live as though He doesn't exist is to act foolish.
