Subject: So Many Things Are Uncommon
1 Corinthians 2:14 - "But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned."
cliché - "God gave us common sense or brains to use."
I thought that the below passage said it in ways that I really can't. I'm sorry for those of you who are not King James readers but the entire passage basically supports the fact that it's not about the abilities of our flesh, but instead about the wisdom of God. The very basic tenet of our faith, Christ crucified and risen, is difficult (a stumbling block) for the most intellectual or brightest people in our society to understand. That's simply because it's not to be grasped with our natural minds but instead by our spiritual. Then our natural man takes His rightful place, which is being subservient to our spiritual man. So the bottom line on this cliché is that regardless of how much common sense you have, if your spiritual ears aren't open, you won't hear a thing.
1 Corinthians 1:23 - 30
But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumbling block, and unto the Greeks foolishness; But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nothing things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence. But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
