Subject: What If I Stumble?
Psalms 37:23-24 "The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord and he delighteth in His way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down, for the Lord upholdeth him with His hand.”
What really hits you like a ton of
bricks when you look at this passage is the sense of an impending fall, or
stumble as the NIV puts it. However,
even stumbles come as a result of “steps” that are ordered by the Lord. What does all of that mean? It means that as we walk the path that God
has prepared for us, our inability to not get every decision right does not
mean we are off the path. In fact, those
things are divinely designed to show us that when we stumble r fall, God is
there to uphold and strengthen us. Our
fear as believers is that we will mess up and make a decision that is outside
of the will of God, however if we first delight ourselves in His way and seek
Him with our whole heart, we can be assured that the results of our decisions
are His business. I’ve experienced in
my own life the path of God and at times if it were not for my 100% certainty
that this were the path of God, I would think that my decisions were
wrong. We may stumble and we may fall
but on God’s path, this is all part of our development.
