Subject:  The Never Lost System

Jeremiah 50:6 - "My people hath been lost sheep: their shepherds have caused them to go astray, they have turned them away on the mountains: they have gone from mountain to hill, they have forgotten their resting place."

Psalms 73:24 - "With your advice you guide me, and in the end you will take me to glory."

I was in my Hertz rental vehicle headed out of Dallas on my way back to Virginia.  Just as I left, I noticed a huge traffic jam on I-635.  Wanting to make good time on the trip back, I couldn't let this traffic jam slow me so I exited off of the freeway at the first chance.  I was more than ready for this because my car was equipped with the Hertz Never Lost System.  It's the global positioning satellite program that tells you exactly where you are at all times and even talks to you and tells you which turns to make in order to get to your destination, once the destination is programmed in.  So I was ready and the destination was programmed.

Once I exited the freeway, I looked ahead and could see the road that I needed to get on so I went that direction.  However, the Never Lost System was telling me to make some funny turns so I ignored it.  Minutes later, I had evaded the traffic jam, but I was still wandering off on a side-road and couldn't get back on the road I needed.  The Never Lost System however, was still continually telling me to make these strange turns.  Finally I decided that I would do that and quickly I was on the right path and headed out of Dallas.

Boy was this a spiritual lesson for me.  We have the ultimate Never Lost System, but only if we chose to heed the directions given to us.  Failure to do so, keeps us on side-roads and off of the main path, causing lots of frustration and lost time.  The destination has already been programmed for us, now let's trust the directions and follow them.
