Subject:  Can Our Sin Be Normal Please?

Romans 1:25a "Who changed the truth of God into a lie..."

Romans 1:26a "For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections..."

This one has to fit into the "that's-the-kind-of-strange-only--sin-can-produce category."  Our most famous talk show host, Oprah, had a "man" on last week who is supposed to be the world's first pregnant man.  The truth is of course that this man is a transsexual, who was born as a woman.  So if I've got this right, she was born as a woman and wanted to be a man, but wanted to have a baby so she kept that part of her "wiring" in when she changed to become a man.  Of course the response on Oprah was a bit more affirming than any response I can think of.  Oprah told him/her that this "gives a new definition of what diversity means for everybody." Correction Oprah; not everybody.  It only changes the definition for those who would rather make their own truths rather than accepting God's.

Only sin can produce this kind of mixed-up mind and of course that's what the remainder of Romans 1 talks about.  Once people who have changed God's truth into something else, their minds become reprobate.  And until I read this story, I always wondered what "vile" affections could look like.  Well I think that this is an answer.

Today we can only humble ourselves, pray, seek His face and turn from our wicked ways and perhaps even our sin can be normal again and not vile.  We're bad enough without a reprobate mind.
