Subject: Sins Got To Bow
Romans 8:3 - "For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh."
Let's not get confused about this. Sin is a problem for us, but it's nothing for God to handle and as a matter of fact, that's the only real way for it to be handled.
My roommate came to me this weekend and among other things, he talked about going to church with me one day. So while I was on the phone with a friend and in the same room with him, I said to my friend on the phone, "XXXX (name withheld) is going to church with me tomorrow." He promptly exclaimed, "wait not tomorrow, I've got to get ready for it." After I got off of the phone we talked about it and he began to tell me how he first had to get ready by stopping his drinking and smoking and things like that. Of course I let him know that it didn't matter, but the reality is that he's tried to stop them all before.
Just like my roommate, we simply don't have the "power" outside of God to get ourselves "ready." I heard something similar from someone in church who has friend who wants to come to Christ but the friend said that she battles homosexuality. Not to minimize the sin but I said, "well she'll become a Christian who battles the sin of homosexuality."
See we've all come to Christ the same way and we're all still in the sin fight, but if we let our sin keep us from drawing nearer to Him, then we've decided that it's too big for Him to handle. However, He is the only one who has conquered sin in the flesh. As for us, we often remain victims to sin, but in Him, we're victors over it. In the Name of Jesus Christ, all sin has to bow.
