Subject: Where Do You Want to Grow?
Psalms 92:7 - "When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed for ever."
Psalm 92:13 - "Those that be planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God."
It's kinda wild to watch how Christian growth takes place. Often it doesn't happen out in the wide open where it can be seen. Often it's fruits are noticeable in such small ways that it can be easily missed. However, if we are determined to grow in our daily walk with Him, then we will ultimately grow. Of course this world can't understand this and they often miss it too because their minds are not set on those types of things. You always hear stories about great musicians or athletes talking about how they had to come from adversity and now that they have millions of dollars they realize it was just their perseverance. Usually to them, that is the end all and be all of everything. They have arrived once that happens. So sad. Of course for us who believe, we don't simply persevere to persevere. While we are persevering, we're undergoing an overhaul. God is creating in us something better. Most of these traits will never be noticed by the world because they are not cherished in the world. However, they are cherished in "the courts of God." Humility, patience, kindness, peace...etc. These things are the fruit that we produce when we seek to be established by God. Therefore, we seldom feel as if we have arrived in any or all of these areas.
So where do you want to grow? There are two ways to growth contrasted in the above scriptures. Bring forth fruit that flourishes in the courts of our God and not just grass.
