Subject:  Proud To See You Standing...In The Rain

Ecclesiastes 7:14 "In the day of prosperity be joyful, but in the day of adversity consider: God also hath set the one over against the other, to the end that man should find nothing after him."

Wednesday is our normal uniform inspection day with the cadets at my high school.  All year we've  had a particularly tough time with our 6th period class of cadets.  I think it's because it's directly after their lunch and one class before the end of the school day.  At any rate it has been really tough, but we've begun to see growth in them.  Yesterday as they stood for the inspection, it began to rain.  In the past, the smallest adversity and the class would erupt into chaos.  So yesterday when I went to the door and looked out and saw them standing there in their uniforms at the position of attention, I was touched.  How pleased I was to see them standing in the midst of the rain without complaint or whine.

That must be how God feels about us when we go through adversity and "stand" through it.  God didn't design everything in this life to go the way we'd always like it.  As a matter of fact, he designed intentionally some rainy days for us.  That's the key.  They are indeed for us.  They are meant for our growth and development as mature children of the living God.  When we realize this then we may someday get to the point where we pray for rain where we know we need it.

Today God is watching to see how we stand in the rain.  Is He pleased or is he grieved that we're complaining about the rain that He sent to grow us?  Consider it.
