Subject: He Gives Great Answers
Mark 13:11b "...take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost"
After writing about pageant controversy yesterday, I attended a pageant on last evening. It was the Miss Prairie View A&M University pageant and one of my former students was competing. She was doing well until they got to the impromptu interview portion of the pageant. They asked her a fairly simple and straightforward question. The question was, "If you win this crown and become Miss Prairie View A&M, what is one thing that you would change at this school." The question for each contestant was then repeated to give them time to think or as displayed in the verse above, they should've used that time to ask the Holy Spirit what to say. Anyway, after the question was repeated she then responded quite boldly, "Nothing. I would change nothing. I love my school the way it is." The crowd didn't like the answer at all.
There's something about the Holy Spirit speaking that moves people. Even when the listeners may disagree, it has a powerful effect on those who hear it. Therefore, it would behoove us to let the Spirit of God go before us when we open our mouths. That's not an easy thing to do because I know I always like to have the answers, but I need to first ensure that He is speaking and not just me.
Today you're going to surely be asked at least one question. Think about the answer you're going to give. Will it be you or Him?
