Subject: Bring Your "A" Game
1 Corinthians 15:57 "But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."
It's that time of the year again. The National Basketball Association (NBA) has started its playoffs to see who will be crowned the champion of the league. The Phoenix Suns and the San Antonio Spurs played a dazzling double overtime game on Saturday and they play again tonight. Each team has talked in depth about how they are going to have to bring their "A" game if they want to win. "A" game is the terminology used to define someone giving their best and their all to win.
My "A" game is how I need to come before God each day. I can't come before him with my leftover energy, with half-hearted enthusiasm, with a broken-down spirit and no real plan and expect that I shall obtain a victory. No basketball team can step on a court with those things and expect to win. However, we often come to God like that. We often build plans on ministering for Him later when we can't do all of the things that we were able to do in our youth. That's putting off your "A" game. We sometimes go to church with our mind on "other" things, like the fight we had with a co-worker or how we're going to pay some bills. That does not let us go to God with our "A" game.
There are millions of ways to be off of your "A" game and only one way to ensure that you are on it. Give thanks to God today that HE has given us the victory through Jesus Christ and not only can we then ensure that we're on our "A" game, we have Him to make the "assist." That's how we win.
