Subject:  Not Just An April Fool

Proverbs 26:11 "As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly."

It's that day in the year.  Many people will find their best practical jokes and play them on an unsuspecting friend, enemy or just anybody they can find.  I understand that this is all in good fun and that's okay, but for some people, it's not just an April Fool's thing.

Jesters or buffoons were known in their day to provide amusement through inappropriate appearance and/or behavior.  Of course using those standards you can easily see that we have a lot of "jesters" or "fools" in our society today.  I won't begin to enumerate the politicians, celebrities and even ordinary people who fit the description of inappropriate behavior in our society, but you can see that if you use that definition for a fool, it's not just an April 1st tradition.

The scripture seems to imply that fools keep being foolish because that's what they do and indeed there is only one way to change your inappropriate behavior and appearance to appropriate and that is through the life-changing power of Jesus Christ.

Today, as you play that practical joke or that April Fool's prank, think about being appropriate.  Anybody can be a fool, but wisdom is more precious.
